The Hotel Nepenthe Returns!

I'm very excited that my play, The Hotel Nepenthe, will be back for six shows only as part of The Emerging America Festival next week!

Scary Bellhops!  Fucked-up Starlets!  Wayward Political Wives!  Caffeine-addled Yuppies!

It's the same lovely cast: Marianna Bassham, Daniel Berger-Jones, Georgia Lyman and myself.

Gammons is directing again and designed the gorgeous costumes and set, which will be on the Wimberly Stage with the audience, facing this vast, empty array of red seats that the genius Jeff Adelberg is lighting.

Could NOT be more excited to bring this show to life again!  It's the original ASP production, hosted by The Huntington Theatre Company.

How can I entice you more?   The same production won The Elliot Norton Award for "Best New Play" and "Best Ensemble".  It also won an IRNE for "Best New Play" recently.

AND this is a HOME GROWN play, with all local artists and designers!

Please COME if you missed it the first time!  And if you saw it the first time, COME AGAIN!

And if you like the show:  please spread the word: we open and close in only 4 DAYS!!!

Here's all the info:  www.emergingamericafestival.com

See you at the show!!!

I want you to see The Balcony, of course...

...BUT if you've already seen it, there's two great shows you should catch before they close tomorrow as well.

The rarely produced Dr. Faustus, at Suffolks' Modern Theatre, directed by my good friend David Gammons

and

Angel Reapers, right next door at the Emerson Paramount.

I won't be able to see Angel Reapers, which kills me: my friend Birgit is in it, and I hear it's just phenomenal.

A million years ago, Birgit and I were Orphelia and Hamlet in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead at the New Rep.

Time really does fly.

Or sail.

And if you HAVEN'T seen The Balcony yet: well, I hope you will!  It's our last performance tomorrow, at 2pm.

Hope to see you!

Hotel Nepenthe - Final Shows

We started our second week last night!

6 perfs left.

It strangely felt like we had been away for two years, but the show went really great, with a wonderful audience.

Today I have to teach a class in Newton until 5 and then somehow get to the space by 6:45 using public transportation.

Little nervous about that.

The Hotel Nepenthe - Final Week

Princess Firefly

So, we have opened the show!

It was a whirlwind.  Very exciting.

Now, I'm trying to wrap my brain around the fact that we are closing the show.

I feel like I have whiplash.

We have 7 more performances and this production will be gone forever.

One week goes by very quickly.

I'm going to try to be in the moment as much as possible.

But I miss the hotel, a little bit, already.

The Hotel Nepenthe - Opening!

We had our dress rehearsal and first preview last night.

We open tonight.

It feels so good to be performing this, and telling this story together.

It's a crazy, scary, funny, creamy ride.
